You know that kid that asks “Why?” a million times a day?
Yep, that describes me (Paige Muller) to a tee. I may have been called nosy once or twice but I prefer to think of it as just being innately curious.
That desire to know everything about everything was nurtured by my mother, a former teacher and professor. Family vacations meant time spent together but they were also teachable moments, to learn about new cultures, try foods I’d never heard of and appreciate new experiences. My mother was not someone who would take us to just the tourist hot spots; she would always toss the guidebook aside, wanting to take us to see the "real" places where the locals lived and hung out.
Basically, my need to always check out more than the Top-10 Things to Do in Whoville is entirely my mother's fault;)
Living abroad for many years also taught me to question the status quo and even though leaving one place to start over again and again in another wasn’t easy, it signified a fresh start, a departure from the old and overrun and the beginning of something new: a challenge, an adventure, the unknown.
In my regular life, I'm a passionate advocate for local music, culture and the arts. I'm also a connectivity curator at Mosaic Theater; an active participant at the Kennedy Center and Woolly Mammoth; Funk Parade supporter and the former Events Director at online music magazine DC Music Download, as well as producer of their “Know Your Scene” podcast.
With a focus on uncovering the hidden gems in DC (or whatever city I find myself in), I can be regularly found in the front row of a local concert, checking out an experimental art show or taking a walkabout to discover new nooks and crannies.
