You can take the DIY approach and avail yourself of the myriad summery selections in local markets, but i
f you prefer to have a chef do the work, here’s a taste of the most portable to-go picnic basket menus for all of your summer celebrations. 

We've curated six places to pick-up the perfect prepared picnic grub!

Central Michel Richard

Snag one of their delicious Deli Picnic Boxes featuring two half sandwiches, homemade potato chips, a mini bottle of wine and a cocktail mixing kit! 
Cork Market & Tasting Room

Cork Market offers picnic-ready buttermilk fried chicken served with arugula salad and a biscuit ($40) or BBQ pork ribs with arugula salad and a cookie ($50). Wine and cocktails can be added for an additional price.
Each Peach Market
3068 Mount Pleasant Street NW
Each Peach Market specializes in fresh and seasonal prepared foods such as grab-and-go salads, soups, dips, cakes and desserts. Plus, they offer a wide assortment of delicious made-to-order sandwiches,  served on local baguettes and filled with delicious ingredients. Or you can opt for one of their platters or gift baskets for more customized offerings; allow 24-hours notice. The Date Night platter curates sweet and savory options for two, plus a bottle of vino ($60). Going with a crowd? The party basket has everything you need for a hungry crew including cheese, crackers/baguette, olives, smoked fish and wine/beer ($100) or design your own basket for ($50/$75/$100).
Feast in a Basket

Custom design an ultra gourmet meal in a keepsake basket for two people ($225 plus tax) includes your choice of appetizer, salad, entrees including grilled dill salmon, spicy shrimp with mango salsa, Chesapeake crab cakes, creole spice-rubbed flank steak or buttermilk fried chicken, and tempting desserts such as bread pudding with caramel sauce, pineapple upside down cake, and pound cake with berries. The French-American bistro is packing their $95 picnic basket with treats like salmon rilletes, roasted chicken salad, creamy French cheeses, and charcuterie like wild boar salami and prosciutto.
Xiquet
2404 Wisconsin Ave., NW
Glover Park’s wood-fired Spanish spot is offering two picnic baskets filled with Valencian provisions and a bottle of wine. The first option features jamon iberico and mussels ($146) and the second boasts chorizo and manchego-stuffed olives ($80).
