It's summertime summertime sum sum summertime! Even though some things will still look a bit different this year, we can't wait to welcome back many of the normal summertime activities with open (vaccinated) arms.
Museums have already started to reopen and there's even more to look forward to this month. There's pride celebrations, a ton of outdoor and drive-in movies, theatre under the stars, live music (thank GOD!), waterfront yoga, bourbon tastings, craft beer, and more! We've compiled a mix of more than 20 virtual and in-person activities to kick-off your summer!  If you're sick of just about everything on Netflix, you're in luck. DC’s museums, gardens, art galleries and cultural institutions are starting to re-open! Be aware--many places are requiring visitors to reserve timed-entry passes to aid social distancing measures, and masks are always a must. But that's to be expected in this "new normal."

Summertime and movies go hand-in-hand , but with indoor theatres remaining closed, drive-ins and outdoor movies are the perfect way to catch classic flicks and films like you've never seen them before. Drive-ins are having a bit of a renaissance these days as people rediscover them thanks to social distance precautions. Besides, there's nothing like watching classic movies under the stars! So grab a blanket or gas up the car and check out our list of places to experience this classic American pasttime throughout the DMV.  Drive-in theatres might seem like dinosaurs, relics of the past. But there are actually about 300 of them left scattered across the country. The outdoor movie theatres are having a bit of a renaissance these days as people are rediscovering them thanks to social distance precautions. Each summer, the National Building Museum hosts the exciting Summer Block Party installations, an innovative and interactive experience that highlights incredible feats of design and engineering in the building's magnificent Great Hall.
Since 2014, we've played hide-and-seek inside a giant maze, relaxed at the Beach and last year we hung out and "swam" in the pool at the Fun House. This year, we'll be chilling and playing croquet on the Lawn, the museum's upcoming summer exhibit that's fun for all ages.
