The Iberoamerican Cultural Attachés Association presents its annual film showcase from 18 countries with screenings of Ibero-American movies in different venues in DC, including some special screenings at Franklin Park and Mitchell Park. Hosted at the Embassy of Columbia, enjoy the movie "Spider," a drama about a couple that commits a political crime that changes the country's history and incidentally involves them in a betrayal that separates them forever. In collaboration with Folger Theatre, an immersive stage will welcome visitors as they arrive to the Museum. The Playhouse provides a venue for unique experiences related to theater—from behind-the-scenes tours to sword-fighting demonstrations and other hands-on activities. At night The Playhouse transforms into a stage for Shakespeare’s most famous, fairy-filled comedy for Folger Theatre’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Grab your yoga mat and get ready to ohm it out for a Healing Mind, Body and Spirit Kemetic Yoga session at the National Museum of African Art. Kemetic Yoga is a type of yoga that is very healing and regenerative. It is fundamentally based on the science of ancient Egypt and inspired by ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. The backdrops showcased in this exhibit include Eastern State Penitentiary, Alburtis Furnace, Pennhurst Asylum, and La Belle Creolle, an abandoned resort in St. Maarten, to name a few. July 2 - August 6 Folklife festival. Every summer, the National Mall becomes the stage for the most colourful and original musicians, dancers artists, and performers from different countries of the world. The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is a kaleidoscope of cultures and massive kid-friendly educational experience and celebration of diversity. The Hot Wing King is a rolicking kitchen comedy about an amateur cook besieged by disruptive family and friends while he’s struggling to create a prize-winning batch of spicy wings for the annual "Hot Wang Festival" in Memphis, Tennessee. Showing at Studio Theatre, it's a recipe for food, fun and family dysfunction. 👤💲🎟 Now thru July 31 Citywide play. Chemical Exile, the newest interactive and immersive play from Rorschach Theatre, takes participants to eight locations across the DC area as a complex story unfolds about families, forgotten histories and the uncharted frontiers of the mind. The season-long fictional narrative plays out over layers of history and magic realism. Guests receive a box in the mail monthly that includes a new Chapter in the story, each box containing hand-crafted objects - letters, drawings, souvenirs, photos, or even snacks - and a map to a location in their city. Kogod Courtyard turns into an arcade as SAAM Arcade returns for a day full of new games from indie developers along with classic arcade and console games from MAGFest. The touring exhibition of 100 authentic works by the anonymous graffiti artist has finally arrived in DC.
